Chiloé is situated in the Southwest of the
American continent and is the largest island in
South America. The archipelago is made of 40
small islands and the main island can be reached by
ferry from the continent through the Chacao canal.
You will discover Castro and its houses on stilts, its
churches and chapels, one of the most important
architectural ensemble in Chile, which is on UNESCO World
Heritage list. You will also be able to visit the Chiloé National
Park in the South and the Penguins Reserve at Puñihuil, next
Ancud in the North. We finally advice you to taste the “Curanto”,
a typical meal from Chiloé, made of potatoes, meat, cornflour and shellfish.
