Trek at the End of the World: The Tooth of Navarino

Visit of Chile's capital, nestled at the foot of the Andes. Although Santiago has become over the years a modern and bustling city, some older neighbourhoods have preserved their atmosphere and a romantic charm.
You will visit the Plaza de Armas, San Francisco Church, the Bellavista area, Cerro San Cristobal, etc.

Morning departure from the hotel.
Head south and visit of the village of Pomaire (famous for pottery artcraft of all kinds).
Continue to the Pacific coast to Isla Negra and visit the museum of Pablo Neruda, Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971. Lunch in the village. Make your way to Viña del Mar, the largest beach resort in Chile, before reaching Valparaiso in the late afternoon.

On your way you visit the Casa Marin wineyard while enjoying a scenic view on the Pacific ocean. This wine domain from San Antonio appellation was created in 2000 by Maria Luz Marin, the only chilean woman to be owner, founder and wine specialist. You taste the Casa Marin wines which displays more than 90 points on Robert Parker 2008 & 2009 among which the Sauvignon Blanc Laurel 2009 elected best Chilean white wine and the Pinot Noir Lo Abarca Hills 2004. The awards and prizes never got to their head and you will have a very warm and hearty welcome in this wineyard.

Visit of this town, and its old quarters, listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO. With its many hills crowned with picturesque houses and warehouses, its steep narrow streets, its cable cars and street artists, the city has a particular identity and a very special atmosphere. Seize the opportunity to have lunch in a typical seafood restaurant. Visit of La Sebastiana, one of Pablo Neruda's houses.

Arrival at Puerto Wiliam airport after 1h30 flight and transfer to the Lakutaiai hotel. Welcome drink and lunch at the lodge. During the afternoon, visit of the Etno Botanic parc. Dinner at the lodge. After dinner, briefing and preparation of the material for the trek. Night at Lodge Lakutaia.

Departure from the lodge to the departure point of the trek. For this first day, you will have the choice of two options according the weather conditions : Option 1 : ascent of 1h30 to the Bandera Cerra (590m) where you will have a panoramic view of Puerto Wiliam and the beagle canal. Then, 2 more hours walk and you will arrive to the Salto lagoon.
Option 2 : Progressive ascent to the Salta lagoon accross the forest. You can observe a lot of lagoons, lakes and castors on the way. Night on tent. Material including. Total : 4h walk.

Early in the morning, we leave the camp site. Two hours walk and differents passes at 716m and 800m will take you to the Dientes de Navarino and the south side. The view on the Nassau bay and Wollaston island is just amazing. After 3h30 walk along lakes and the ascent of Ventarron pass (696m), you will arrive to the martillo lagoon to spend the night.

Early in the morning, departure to the Guerrico valley after 3h walk. Ascent of Virginia pass (slope : +860m-440m - 1h30 walk). Amazing view of the mountain and sea side. A descent of 1h30 walk to join the camp area close to a lagoon.

Early in the morning, departure ans descent up to the sea. At the beginning, you will walk in the forest and then on a clear path. (slope ; 460m - walking distance : 3h). After 8km, you will arrive to the Lakutaia lodge where the lunch will be waiting for you. Free afternoon.

After breakfast, transfer to Puerto Wiliam airport.
